Blog Tour and Book Review – That Guy by Belle Brooks

Title: That Guy
Author: Belle Brooks
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: August 8, 2018

A modern way of finding love. One deserted island of luxury. Two people. Three out cards. And a whole lot of possibilities.

Melinda takes the advice of her best friend, Chris. She signs up to a new dating service that pairs you statistically to the one you’re supposed to love. Finding it — love that is — using the more conventional methods, has not been a successful venture for Mindy, and with her biological clock ticking, she uses a more desperate method and takes the plunge into a possible happily ever after.

The thing is, when she boards the boat to a secret location, she doesn’t realise the man waiting for her is someone she’s previously met.
Chance encounters occur more frequently than we realise. Being blind to them is part of a bustling world. But, being faced with them can lead to a hilarious three weeks between two opposites who might just attract.

I am speechless! I just binged on this book in one setting. I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down! I read Belle’s Game Of Life Series and loves her writing style so much. This book; however, is as different as could be from that!

I honestly don’t think I have ever laughed so hard while reading a book. I thankful I was home alone, because my laughter was not quiet and there may have been a snort or two involved.

I truly loved every second of the journey that I took with Arlie and Mindy. Their characters were so lovable and easy to relate to. Chris, Mindy’s BFF, stole the show, though, with his flamboyant antics!

I just don’t want to say anymore, because you have to read it for yourself, but this is a MUST read! I know that I will be reading it again!

“OMG this book was bloody hilarious; I laughed till I had to cross my legs and run to the loo (you’ll get this if you have kids like me)My other half thought I was losing the plot and kept giving me concerned glances with the strange noises that were coming from my corner of the lounge.” – Beckie Bookworm

“This book is every bit as entertaining as every other review is going to tell you, and I highly recommend this as a must read! You just have to, you won’t be sorry. 5 wet myself laughing Stars.” – Marnie

“‘THAT GUY’ gets a phenomenal 5* from me. I really cannot recommend this highly enough. I do know that if you are a fan of RomComs or Ms. Brooks .. this book needs to be read for the full effect.” – Trish Brown

Book Review and New Release – The Bombshell Effect by Karla Sorensen

Title: The Bombshell Effect
Author: Karla Sorensen
Genre: Sports Romantic Comedy
Release Date: June 14, 2018
Cover Designer: Najla Qamber

Allie Sutton just got a new job.

Not one she wants, and definitely not one she’s prepared for. She hadn’t seen her dad in years, so the last thing she expects upon his sudden death is to inherit the thing he loved more than anything (or anyone) … the professional football team he owned for the last twenty years.

Luke Pierson does not want a new boss.

What he wants is to be a good father to his daughter, the best quarterback possible for his teammates. What he doesn’t need is a blonde bombshell ruining the team’s chances at another championship. Especially when that bombshell turns out to be his new neighbor. The neighbor he was a complete jerk to the first time they met.

For the sake of the team, they treat each other like complete professionals. In public, at least. Behind closed doors, it’s a different story. And the fallout of giving in to that heat is something neither one of them can see coming.

Well, this is the second book I have read by Karla Sorensen, and it completely lived up to my expectations! She has such an engaging writing style that you can’t help but be sucked in from the first page. OK, so little disclaimer, as I may be a bit biased on this book – it takes place in Seattle, my stomping grounds and I ALWAYS love reading stories that take place here!

Luke, a pro-football player for the Washington Wolves, and single Dad, does everything he can to keep his personal life out of the media… he has been burned before.

Allie, daughter to the former owner of the Wolves, has just found out that she inherited the team. She knows NOTHING about football and has no idea what to do with a team, but that won’t stop her from trying.

The characters are beautifully developed, the chemistry between Luke and Allie is sizzling hot, and oh, I just can’t say enough good things!

The storyline is riveting. I did not want to put this book down for one second! I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of sports romances, and just romance in general!

Well, let’s see … I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone’s face, then I’ve done my job. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I’ll love you forever.

New Release and Book Review – Plot Twist (Romance in Rehoboth #3) by K.L. Montgomery

Presents

Release Blitz: Plot Twist
by K.L. Montgomery

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Series: Romance in Rehoboth; Book Three

If you think what’s happening on stage is entertaining … you should see what’s happening BACKSTAGE!

A brand new show is coming to Rehoboth Beach! Jack and Claire (yes, THAT Claire) Reilly have written an original musical, and they have the perfect cast. Plus, there’s pirates. Who doesn’t love pirates?

Meric Chandler is a neurotic, introverted accountant by day, but at night he transforms into a magnetic leading man whose voice makes all the girls swoon. Just getting over a divorce, he has sworn off backstage romances. After all, that’s how he met his EX wife.

Lindy Larson prefers to stay behind the scenes, but her girlfriends convince her to audition for a new local theater production. She has a stunning voice but plans to blend in as much as possible, which isn’t easy to do when you’re the awkward plus-size girl with two left feet.

While backstage romances are to be expected, they don’t usually shut down the entire production. But you know what they say: the show must go on!

Plot Twist is Book 3 of the Romance in Rehoboth Series, where the ladies are strong and independent and the men are actually nice guys. These delightful romantic comedies are set against the backdrop of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware’s top vacation destination. This book can be read as a standalone, but make sure to check out the other books in the series, Fat Girl and The Flip. Book 4 is due out in Summer 2018.
What can I say?! I am a fan of K. L. Montgomery – tried and true! Her Rehoboth series is my favorite, and I mean that… so when I say that I was excited to hear there was a third book in the series, that is a complete and total understatement! She did not disappoint!
If you are not familiar with K. L. Montgomery’s work, she writes light-hearted (read LOL), sweet, body/sex – positive romances. I love her heroines, all over the age of 30, and strong, curvy women with attitude.
Lindy is no exception! Shy, living at home to care for her aging parents, of which, her mother is likely suffering from a memory disorder. She is struggling to find her identity and make her way in the world. I instantly identified with her, having been in the same situation. She teaches at the Delmarva Academy during the school year, and has summers off. Her best friends talk her into auditioning for the local musical production – did I mention that I FLOVE musical theater?? Lindy thinks they have lost their minds, but decides to go along with it… how bad can it be to be in the chorus, after all?!
There she meets Meric Chandler. Meric is an accountant by day, extremely introverted; but on stage, he comes to life. He loves playing in musicals and is used to having the lead role.
After a series of small disasters, and one major catastrophe, Lindy and Meric find themselves thrust front and center, and trying to ignore the feelings they are developing for each other. Lindy is afraid to put herself out there, and Meric – still recovering from his divorce – has made it clear he isn’t ready for a relationship.
I was so happy to see the characters from the previous books in the series – Claire, Jack and Jean-Marc from Fat Girl, and Drew and Sonnet from The Flip, play relatively major roles in Plot Twist! It was like going home and visiting with all my old friends! (Is that sad? 😂😂)
I had so many LOL moments while reading this book – the character names in the play were a scream! I mean… Crimson “Blade” McLifetaker and Easton von Thurston?! It doesn’t get much better than that!
And I found out that Nicobolis and cheese fries are a thing! I’ve seen the menu!
I literally can’t say enough good things about Plot Twist! It checked all my boxes… and books + musical theater? It doesn’t get any better than that! This is a MUST READ for anyone that likes Rom-Com with a witty, snarky cast of characters! ❤️

EXCERPT:

Dean reached for a plate from the stack Stefano had brought out and cleared his throat loudly.

“I was just asking Hazel to take a break tomorrow after all of this stress today and join me for a picnic. You wouldn’t mind, would you, Indigo?”

Indigo’s head popped up like a meerkat, her gaze sweeping back and forth between them. Hazel shot Dean a dirty look. Getting Indigo involved? That was cheating.

“Mind? Of course I wouldn’t mind! I can’t imagine Hazel on a picnic, though. You should go, Hay. It will chill you out a bit. Get you grounded with Mother Nature. And don’t wear any shoes. Earthing increases the circulation of your neutrophils.”

Dean gave Hazel a confused look, and she shrugged. Indigo was beyond explanation.

They sat down to eat. Stefano took the seat opposite Indigo, and Dean slid in opposite Hazel. Their knees banged together under the table and he gave her another of his vertigo-inducing smiles. Oh, God. She was in trouble.

“Well?” he asked again.

“Oh for goodness’ sake, Hazel, go on a picnic!” Indigo said. “Think about your neutrophils.”

Stefano was nodding vigorously. “Yes, your neutrophils,” he said, having no idea what he was saying.

“Honestly, Hazel,” Dean said, grinning mischievously, “how could you even contemplate neglecting your neutrophils. You need this picnic.”

She might regret it but she took a deep breath and plunged. “Okay, I’ll go on the picnic. Now can we shut up about neutrophils and eat this amazing meal?”

Author Bio:

Lisa-Marie has a weird accent – it’s kind of English, with some Jersey twang and Scottish slang thrown in. That happens when you’re born in England, move to NJ as a teenager and marry a sexy Scotsman.

If you like to read breezy, fun books that you can’t put down then she’d love it if you’d read her books and then emailed her with questions, ideas or insults. You can reach her at: lisa@laptoplifelisa.com

She travels a lot. You’ll find most of her favorite locations popping up in her books. She’s struggling with some serious empty nest syndrome since her daughter flew the nest, which is why she fosters lots of kittens. It doesn’t help much.

Book Review – Then Again (Juniper Court Book 3) – by Sylvie Stewart

Publisher – Rolling Hearts Press

Publication Date – January 26, 2018

Pages – 268

Synopsis

They say the first step is the hardest one. Even more so when it takes you right off a cliff. Jenna Watson never saw her divorce coming until the papers smacked her in the face. Left to pick up the pieces and maintain an upbeat front for her daughters, she struggled to make it through the months that followed. But it’s been two years now, and it’s past time to start again. Encouraged by Jill, her meddlesome sister, Jenna embarks on a mission to dive back into life. Step one: find a romance-novel-worthy man for a hot summer fling. How hard could it be? But disastrously bad flirting, a failed honky-tonk hookup, and a mix-up with one of Sunview’s finest have Jenna seriously doubting if this is all worth it. Maybe she’s better off leaving the world of love and sex to others—or maybe she’s just looking in the wrong place … Then Again is part of the groundbreaking Juniper Court Series. Learn about the authors and their books at our website: http://www.junipercourtseries.com This book is funny, hot, steamy and full of romance with a guaranteed HEA and no cliffhanger! It is appropriate for readers 18 and older.

I can honestly say that I have not laughed out loud so much while reading a book, until Then Again! Sylvie’s writing style is engaging and hilarious!

From the moment I had read the first Juniper Court novel, I was DYING to read Jenna’s story! While, the introductions to her were brief in the previous books, there was something about her that I identified with and I knew I was going to love her!

Perhaps it was the fact that her failed relationship with her dirt bag ex-husband had left her second guessing everything she thought she knew about herself… maybe the fear to leave herself open to being vulnerable with another man and being hurt again, or maybe the saucy attitude under the goody-two-shoes persona that she portrays… whatever, it was, I had to read her story! I was so right! (I love being able to say that!!!)

Then there is Officer McSteamy… I mean Sam! Who wouldn’t want a guy like that?!?! He showed no fear at getting involved in a fling with a single mom of twin 10 year olds, knowing that is all it would be… a perfect gentleman with mannerisms from another era… and how kind and patient he was blew my mind!

I literally laughed and laughed, and maybe shed a few tears, but mostly laughed… the embarrassing kind of guffaw at the most inopportune places and times!

Then Again is the best Rom-Com I have read in a very long time! It is one I will definitely pull out again when I need a good laugh!
